Maxine Daniels

H. Maxine Daniels serves as the Director of Voter Registration and Elections for DeKalb County. She is responsible for administering and supervising the conduct of elections and voter registration. She is a hands-on administrator and demands world class customer service by her department as a top priority. In the registrations division she is committed to assuring that her staff registers all eligible citizens to vote, assigns voters to respective precincts in accordance with state and federal laws and maintains accurate registration records. In the elections division she is committed to assuring that all federal, state, county and municipal elections are conducted in accordance with the Georgia Election Code, as well as operating the absentee poll for federal, state, county and municipal elections. It is crucial that Ms. Daniels stay abreast of any changes to laws that impact the registration/elections process. Because of the department's reputation throughout the state, DeKalb County is often called upon as an example.

In 2001, at the time electronic voting was being adopted statewide, Ms. Daniels was recruited as Elections Coordinator because of her technical background with Bellsouth. Since that time she has been promoted to Elections Supervisor, then Assistant Director with increasing responsibilities in both the registration and election areas. In December of 2009, she was named by the Voter Registration & Elections Board as Director upon her predecessor's retirement. Ms. Daniels uses the overall registration and elections experience she has acquired, plus her technological expertise to demonstrate effective and efficient vision for the department. Ms. Daniels, a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, holds a BA in Mathematics from Spelman College and has been a resident of DeKalb County for over 25 years.
