Mike Van Wie
Mike Van Wie is the Airport Director for DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK). As Airport Director, Mike organizes and administers all property management activities for DeKalb County, and daily operations, airport security, construction administration and facilities maintenance. Additionally, he is responsible for the management of 13 corporate hangar complexes; an airport restaurant and lounge; 90 T-hangars or "garages" for small aircraft; tiedowns; and, numerous on & off airport leases & other rental property.
Mike joined PDK in 2002 as Assistant Airport Director. He became Interim Director in May 2010 and was appointed Airport Director in December 2010.
A retired U.S. Navy veteran, Mike's extensive 22 -year naval career includes tours in Air Traffic Control, Air Traffic Control and Airspace Management and Airport Management. Mike's final tour included overseeing Air Traffic Control and Airspace at seven Navy Region Southeast installations.
Active in the aviation community, Mike is an accredited member of the American Association of Airport Executives. He also served as a past president and legislative liaison of the Georgia Airports Association, representing Georgia's 103 public use airports at the State Legislature.
Mike completed an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Masters of Business Administration and Finance from Webster University.

The DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK) is a general aviation reliever airport for the Atlanta metropolitan area and lies on more than 700 acres in the northeastern part of the county. The airport currently is home to three fixed wing and one helicopter fixed based operators, and hosts 125 aviation-related tenants. There are about 590 aircraft of all sorts and types based on the field.
The airport averages approximately 228,000 take-offs and landings per year and is the second busiest airport in the State of Georgia in its number of operations only behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
As a financially self-sufficient enterprise fund of the County, PDK benefits the local and regional economy without using any property tax funds.
