Shelia Trappier Edwards
Shelia Trappier Edwards serves as the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) for DeKalb County Government. In this capacity, Shelia is responsible for managing internal and external communications for the county.
Shelia has an extensive background in working with public and private sector organizations in the areas of communications and government relations. She formerly operated a public relations and marketing firm, and most recently served as Director of CEO-Elect Ellis' Transition Committee.
Prior to her role as a consultant, Shelia served as Assistant Executive Director of the City of Atlanta's Charter Review Commission; Director of the National Conference of Black Mayors' convention; Vice President of Corporate Affairs for international retail giant WHSmith, District Director for U.S. Congressman David Scott; and an Executive with Lockheed Space Operations.
In addition to Shelia's professional experience, she has served on numerous boards and commissions including Women Looking Ahead, and the advisory council for the National Conference of Black Mayors and the U.S. Conference of Mayors. She has served as one of the Co-Chairs of the United Negro College Fund Mayor's Masked Ball, which raises money for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She is a member of the National Association of County Information Officers, the Public Relations Society of America, and the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists.
Shelia earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, and attended the executive management and development programs at Emory University's Goizueta Business School.
